Beginning Lolita and Happy Holidays!

Hello all and welcome! I hope you had some happy holidays! I know I did.... too much food.... My New Years resolution definitely needs to have a diet on the list.... Haha. So, maybe you're interested in Japanese pop culture?  Well, if you find the Lolita fashion attractive that is great.  I know that it gets a little expensive, but there are some great ways to get around that.  You may be a great sewer, and can make your own.  Sadly, I am not to adept at that art.  To me, Lolita fashion is basically life-size doll clothes, or dresses from the 1700's and 1800's that are above the knee.  You have all kinds of different sub-categories in the Lolita fashion.  I personally like lace and pink so I am into sweet Lolita and princess Lolita.  You can research if you are interested in the gothic Lolita or even country Lolita.  The main two designers in the Lolita world are Angelic Pretty and Baby the Stars Shine Bright. I am a BTSSB (Baby the Stars Shine Bright) person, but I have honestly never owned any Angelic Pretty clothes.  There is also Metamorphose Temps De Fille, but I never hear Lolitas talking about the brand.  Of course, if you research, you will notice these brands are pretty expensive, but there are some other places with cheaper prices.  I love to go to the Body Line shop when I do not have the money for BTSSB.  The quality of the fabric is not thick like the Brand names, but they are just as pretty.  The Lolitas I have met are accepting, and do not judge if you cannot afford the brand.  If you look on Facebook, you can find a Lolita community in your area too.   It is fun to gather with fellow people who share your interests so that you can show off you  clothes together.  One thing that I have learned is, you have to have the confidence to make it look good.  If I want to wear Lolita with a purple wig to McDonalds because I feel like it, I will.  People may stare at you, but it just proves how cool you look.  People cannot get enough of you amazing sense in fashion.  I can tell some people may be laughing at me, but they are wearing a plain t-shirt and old jeans.  They obviously do not understand fashion! Be who you want to be!  I remember one time, I wore a pink wig to eat because I did not want to brush my real hair.... Well, this guy from Ireland told me I remind him of his home.  He said girls wear their hair like my wig!  He showered me with compliments, and it boosted me up.  Sometimes, it is worth being the crazy person!  Anyways, the look is a must with makeup.  You want to look like a doll.  So, Google for ball jointed dolls, find one that you like, and copy the makeup.  I personally like to add fake eyelashes because dolls have long lashes, and I also wear circle lenses.  Circle lenses give the illusion of bigger eyes.  I buy mine online at PinkyParadise because they have prescription.  There are a lot of articles on the dangers of circle lenses, but I do not see it.  Circle lenses supposedly make your vision worse, but my vision gets worse and worse every year so I do not blame them.  My vision has been decreasing before I have even gotten circle lenses so please do not feel discouraged.  You should do your own research and believe what you want to.  At the end of the day, Lolita is a lifestyle and you can take it to any extremity you want.  The most important thing you need to be a Lolita is not the clothes or the looks, but the confidence to be who you want to be!
This is a dress I got from Body Line

I got this from Alice and the Pirates (It is a brand within BTSSB)

Bodyline again! They do have nice clothes!
