Beginning Lolita and Happy Holidays!

Hello all and welcome! I hope you had some happy holidays! I know I did.... too much food.... My New Years resolution definitely needs to have a diet on the list.... Haha. So, maybe you're interested in Japanese pop culture?  Well, if you find the Lolita fashion attractive that is great.  I know that it gets a little expensive, but there are some great ways to get around that.  You may be a great sewer, and can make your own.  Sadly, I am not to adept at that art.  To me, Lolita fashion is basically life-size doll clothes, or dresses from the 1700's and 1800's that are above the knee.  You have all kinds of different sub-categories in the Lolita fashion.  I personally like lace and pink so I am into sweet Lolita and princess Lolita.  You can research if you are interested in the gothic Lolita or even country Lolita.  The main two designers in the Lolita world are Angelic Pretty and Baby the Stars Shine Bright. I am a BTSSB (Baby the Stars Shine Bright) person, but I have honestly never owned any Angelic Pretty clothes.  There is also Metamorphose Temps De Fille, but I never hear Lolitas talking about the brand.  Of course, if you research, you will notice these brands are pretty expensive, but there are some other places with cheaper prices.  I love to go to the Body Line shop when I do not have the money for BTSSB.  The quality of the fabric is not thick like the Brand names, but they are just as pretty.  The Lolitas I have met are accepting, and do not judge if you cannot afford the brand.  If you look on Facebook, you can find a Lolita community in your area too.   It is fun to gather with fellow people who share your interests so that you can show off you  clothes together.  One thing that I have learned is, you have to have the confidence to make it look good.  If I want to wear Lolita with a purple wig to McDonalds because I feel like it, I will.  People may stare at you, but it just proves how cool you look.  People cannot get enough of you amazing sense in fashion.  I can tell some people may be laughing at me, but they are wearing a plain t-shirt and old jeans.  They obviously do not understand fashion! Be who you want to be!  I remember one time, I wore a pink wig to eat because I did not want to brush my real hair.... Well, this guy from Ireland told me I remind him of his home.  He said girls wear their hair like my wig!  He showered me with compliments, and it boosted me up.  Sometimes, it is worth being the crazy person!  Anyways, the look is a must with makeup.  You want to look like a doll.  So, Google for ball jointed dolls, find one that you like, and copy the makeup.  I personally like to add fake eyelashes because dolls have long lashes, and I also wear circle lenses.  Circle lenses give the illusion of bigger eyes.  I buy mine online at PinkyParadise because they have prescription.  There are a lot of articles on the dangers of circle lenses, but I do not see it.  Circle lenses supposedly make your vision worse, but my vision gets worse and worse every year so I do not blame them.  My vision has been decreasing before I have even gotten circle lenses so please do not feel discouraged.  You should do your own research and believe what you want to.  At the end of the day, Lolita is a lifestyle and you can take it to any extremity you want.  The most important thing you need to be a Lolita is not the clothes or the looks, but the confidence to be who you want to be!
This is a dress I got from Body Line

I got this from Alice and the Pirates (It is a brand within BTSSB)

Bodyline again! They do have nice clothes!

BTSSB brand at a Lolita Fashion show! This is why you need to join a group!

Attack on Titan Cosplay

Hello everyone! I have always loved cosplaying, but I have never really done any until this year.  I am going to try to cosplay more often. I have yet to make my own, but I plan to start making cosplays soon.  I got my Attack on Titan cape from an anime convention.  Anime Matsuri in Texas to be exact.  It is an excellent convention because they actually have famous cosplayers and people from Japan.

The belts were bought of eBay but they do slip off very easily.  I recommend sewing Velcro to your pants and the belts so that when you put it on your legs, they will stay.  I just got white skinny jeans, a white button up shirt, and some brown riding boots.  It is an easy and popular cosplay.  I did not have any wig that is like a specific character, so I kind of just am no specific person.  Just a part of the Survey Corps.

SBS KPop Star Audition Experience

Hello everyone! It has been such a long time and I have neglected my blog.  This summer, I was able to travel to Dallas, Texas to audition for the SBS KPop Star.  At this audition, you are in front of judges that work for JYP, SM, and YG.  You fill out an application before you go to the actual audition that is located on the SBS website (in Korean). The form asks for your entertainment company preference and I chose YG because they seem to give their artists more freedom and out of all the celebrity interviews, YG artists seem like they are the happiest.  Anyway, I filled out the form and emailed it to the email with the designated location of Dallas.  They emailed me back and a nice gentleman called me to see if I was doing well and ready for the audition.  At the audition, everyone told me they never got a phone call so I felt awkward.  The SBS KPop Star likes for you to bring your parents so I had my father accompany me.  I would get there early and make sure you know where the location is so you will not be late.  The line gets pretty long and it gives you time to socialize with possibly, the next "big thing."  There were cameras throughout the whole audition!!!  They filmed me a lot with my father and they filmed me practicing my dance when I got there, so this boosted my confidence. The staff was kind and helpful! As you check in, you are divided into two groups. Group A and Group B.  I got in Group B and nobody passed to the second round and that sadly includes me.

The first audition is basically singing a song in Korean and a song in English.  They told me I was too dramatic in my songs.  They said they wanted me to be just plain in my movements on one song and very expressive on the other song.  I know one girl was told that she was too good and the show was about improving, so you want to be good but not AMAZING????..... I guess. Do NOT show that you are nervous! Be confident because this is your chance and it may be your only one!!!! It would be great if you are Korean and know Korean.  I feel like the judge for Group B did not pass anyone because he had a set image of the type of person he wanted to pass and just no one met it.  I talked to a girl who passed to the second audition and she said they ask you to sing and also do a dance..... You find out if you pass to the third one by mail. If you do pass the second round, you get the ticket to Korea and I hope you will get me a KPop boy as thanks for my information!!!!

On what to wear, you can dress up or you can wear something casual. I personally wore something I could dance in because I thought I was going to have the chance to dance..... Some girls wore dresses and some wore jeans/ blue jean shorts and a cute top or a KPop themed t-shirt.  Some girls wore heels, some wore converse, and some wore flats.  The guys wore jeans, vans/converse, and a button up flannel or a Kpop themed shirt.  I would not dress as "if you were going to church" of if you were going to a night club.  Just either kind of look "Swagtastic" or wear something super girly (lacy top with a cute floral skirt and flats/wedges). Make sure your hair looks great because all KPop stars have the best hair.  Some people wore makeup but there were a lot of natural face people.  All races were there, so do not be timid about that! On the t-shirts, do not wear a huge one, but a t-shirt that still shows your body type...somewhat.... Anyway! Do great at all your auditions!!!! FIGHTING!!!
